Vamos a ver un par de ellos pero no olvid\u00e1is que hablamos de ciencia, de simbiosis y biolog\u00eda sint\u00e9tica. Ahora lo entender\u00e9is.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p> <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ya hemos hablado en Espores del proyecto internacional de biolog\u00eda sint\u00e9tica <strong>iGEM<\/strong>, organizado por el <em>Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/em> (MIT) en el que participan equipos de estudiantes universitarios de todo el mundo y en el que, por supuesto, tambi\u00e9n contamos con representantes tanto de la <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uv.es\/uvweb\/universidad\/es\/universidad-valencia-1285845048380.html\">Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia <\/a>(UV) c\u00f3mo de la<a href=\"http:\/\/www.upv.es\/\"> Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia<\/a> (UPV).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a1La<strong> biolog\u00eda sint\u00e9tica<\/strong> est\u00e1 de moda! Crear biomol\u00e9culas y sistemas biol\u00f3gicos programados que no existir\u00edan a la naturaleza, como si de robots se trataran. Es la llamada biolog\u00eda de garaje, la que no escudri\u00f1a en la naturaleza sino que pone y quita las piezas para la vida.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-32431\" src=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/6800805548_b8fd3c5791_z.jpg\" alt=\"6800805548 b8fd3c5791 z\" width=\"590\" height=\"392\" srcset=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/6800805548_b8fd3c5791_z.jpg 640w, https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/6800805548_b8fd3c5791_z-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">I<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/snre\/\">magen de FlickR<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Los <em>cowboys<\/em> de la Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia<\/strong><br \/>El equipo gan\u00f3 una medalla de oro y la final en Boston la pasada convocatoria gracias a un proyecto biotecnol\u00f3gico llamado <em>Wormboys<\/em>. El nombre del proyecto es un juego de palabras entre <em>gusano<\/em> en ingl\u00e9s (<em>worm<\/em>) y <em>cowboy<\/em>, que significa <em>vaquero<\/em>. Y s\u00ed, tiene un explicaci\u00f3n porque nuestros estudiantes consiguieron que una bacteria cabalgase sobre un nematodo gracias a un <strong>simbiosis inducida con el fin de mejorar la producci\u00f3n de biopl\u00e0stic,<\/strong> un tipo de material que no procede del petr\u00f3leo y que es biodegradable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El nematodo es alimentado con bacterias modificadas gen\u00e9ticamente que le provocan un comportamiento gregario y al juntarse con otros nematodos igualmente alimentados consiguen agrupar las bacterias que cabalgan sobre ellos y que tambi\u00e9n han sufrido modificaciones gen\u00e9ticas. Esta uni\u00f3n de fuerzas hace que las bacterias, f\u00e1cilmente modificables gen\u00e9ticamente pero con baja movilidad adquieran la capacidad de desplazamiento de los nematodos, organismos poco empleados en este campo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=U7k8tzlyvi4\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-32433\" src=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Video.jpg\" alt=\"Video\" width=\"590\" height=\"361\" srcset=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Video.jpg 635w, https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Video-300x184.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Bacterias <em>cabalgando Caenorhabditis elegants, <\/em>el nematodo. Haz clic en la imagen para ver el video.&nbsp;<em> <br \/><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Este proyecto, liderado por Manel Porcar, cont\u00f3 con una financiaci\u00f3n y unos recursos muy inferiores a los de sus contrincantes, lo que les vali\u00f3 muchas felicitaciones y agradecimientos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Sexy Plant<\/strong><\/em><br \/>Al otro extremo de la l\u00ednea del tranv\u00eda, en la UPV (Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia) un proyecto para el control de plagas juega sus cartas con el fin de ganar el IGEM de este a\u00f1o. Y trat\u00e1ndose de biolog\u00eda sint\u00e9tica no puede ser nada cotidiano.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ni m\u00e1s ni menos, este grupo de estudiantes de Grado en Tecnolog\u00edas Industriales y de Grado de Biotecnolog\u00eda propone una innovadora estrategia para el control de plagas en agricultura como alternativa a los pesticidas: <strong>la creaci\u00f3n de plantas sint\u00e9ticas que producen feromonas sexuales de insectos<\/strong> con las que confundir las plagas. Adem\u00e1s, las plantas contendr\u00e1n en sus genes un interruptor para activar o desactivar la producci\u00f3n de estas sustancias. Estos vegetales reci\u00e9n llegados ser\u00e1n est\u00e9riles, con el fin de controlar su dispersi\u00f3n, no comestibles y coloreados para una f\u00e1cil identificaci\u00f3n, medidas que garantizan la bioseguridad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-32435\" src=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/lab_2.jpg\" alt=\"lab 2\" width=\"590\" height=\"393\" srcset=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/lab_2.jpg 640w, https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/lab_2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/ricephotos\/\">Imagen de FlickR<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La competici\u00f3n<em> International Genetically Engineered Machine<\/em> (iGEM), impulsada por el MIT, como ya hemos dicho, empez\u00f3 de forma local y despu\u00e9s se extendi\u00f3 hasta el punto en que participan unas 200 universidades de todo el mundo. En cuanto a concursos, la Universitat de Val\u00e8ncia ha convocado <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uv.es\/uvweb\/universitat\/es\/agenda-uv\/participa-green-idea-uv-guanya-600-1285851282125\/Esdeveniment.html?id=1285915517643\">Green Idea<\/a> por primera vez con el que intenta mejorar la sostenibilidad de sus campus con propuestas enmarcadas en la educaci\u00f3n ambiental, la movilidad, la gesti\u00f3n de recursos y otros sectores. Ser\u00e1 un punto a favor que estas propuestas puedan ser extrapoladas al resto de la sociedad. Son los estudiantes quienes protagonizan estas investigaciones, quienes las defienden, quienes se preocupan por conseguir financiaci\u00f3n, con m\u00e1s o menos suerte, pero quienes, al fin y al cabo, tienen la oportunidad de hacer aquello que les gusta con la ayuda de las Universidades y los profesores.
