La restauraci\u00f3n de la Caseta del Romero y la reestructuraci\u00f3n del \u00e1rea reservada para las suculentas han permitido de nuevo la presencia en la colecci\u00f3n de los <i>Lithops<\/i> y g\u00e9neros afines.<\/b><\/p>\n<p> <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ya os hemos hablado en&nbsp;<a href=\"index.php?option=com_k2&amp;view=item&amp;id=258:plantes-de-pedra&amp;Itemid=60&amp;lang=es\">Espores<\/a> de las piedras vivientes. Las&nbsp;<i>flowering stones<\/i> o&nbsp;<i>living stones<\/i>, son un grupo de plantas, pertenecientes a la familia bot\u00e1nica de las Aizo\u00e1ceas, que representan una forma extrema de adaptaci\u00f3n al medio y de mimetismo vegetal. Viven en los desiertos de Sud\u00e1frica y Namibia, y para sobrevivir en las duras condiciones de sequ\u00eda y contrastes t\u00e9rmicos propias de estos ambientes, han reducido sus \u00f3rganos vegetativos a solamente un par de hojas, soldadas en la base y separadas por una fisura en la parte superior, que constituyen el cuerpo visible de estas plantas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-28869\" alt=\"LITHOPS-HOOKERI\" height=\"408\" width=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ESPORES\/Etnobotnica\/plantas_piedra\/LITHOPS-HOOKERI.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ESPORES\/Etnobotnica\/plantas_piedra\/LITHOPS-HOOKERI.jpg 633w, https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ESPORES\/Etnobotnica\/plantas_piedra\/LITHOPS-HOOKERI-300x208.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Lithops hookeri<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.naver.com\/ladycow\/50028192073\">Fuente de la imagen<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Desde el punto de vista bot\u00e1nico, corresponden mayoritariamente al g\u00e9nero&nbsp;<i>Lithops<\/i> (cuyo nombre deriva del griego&nbsp;<i>lithos<\/i>, que significa piedra), aunque tambi\u00e9n se consideran piedras vivientes en sentido amplio, por su estructura similar, algunas especies de otros g\u00e9neros afines como&nbsp;<i>Dinteranthus<\/i>,&nbsp;<i>Lapidaria<\/i>,&nbsp;<i>Conophytum<\/i> o&nbsp;<i>Pleiospilos<\/i>, entre otros.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-28871\" src=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ESPORES\/Etnobotnica\/plantas_piedra\/LITHOPS-LESLIEI.jpg\" width=\"590\" height=\"405\" alt=\"LITHOPS-LESLIEI\" srcset=\"https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ESPORES\/Etnobotnica\/plantas_piedra\/LITHOPS-LESLIEI.jpg 624w, https:\/\/espores.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/ESPORES\/Etnobotnica\/plantas_piedra\/LITHOPS-LESLIEI-300x206.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 590px) 100vw, 590px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Lithops lesliei<\/em>. <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.naver.com\/ladycow\/50026484381\">Fuente de la imagen<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las piedras vivientes crecen parcialmente enterradas en el suelo, y \u00fanicamente la parte superior de las hojas emerge en la superficie. Esta zona expuesta adquiere, seg\u00fan las distintas especies, una diversidad de colores, ornamentaciones y texturas que las asemejan a las piedras de su entorno, con lo que estas plantas se mimetizan con el sustrato para evitar ser agredidas por depredadores. Nel, Lithops, University Press, Stellenbosch, 1947.&nbsp;Detalls de la l\u00e0mina<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El crecimiento de estas plantas es lento, y solamente una vez al a\u00f1o renuevan el par de hojas que constituye su cuerpo, sec\u00e1ndose y desapareciendo el par de hojas anterior. La aparente invariabilidad que mantienen durante buena parte de su ciclo vital se ve rota tambi\u00e9n tras las lluvias estacionales, cuando a trav\u00e9s de la fisura que separa el par de hojas surge una bonita flor, de color amarillo o blanco seg\u00fan las especies, que se abre caracter\u00edsticamente a partir del mediod\u00eda y se cierra nuevamente al anochecer.
